Courses at Suite University

There are a variety of courses that are offered at Suite University, and some of the titles may surprise you. Preconception101, Born Too Soon: Your Preemie and You, and Introduction to Infertility are the three that I would like to tell you about. These are all high-quality courses that are related to each other in one-way or another.

First, let’s look at Preconception 101, who would benefit from the course, and what it offers to the student. The course’s author and instructor, Lori Ramsey, is no stranger to Suite101 or to the web. Lori has been the Contributing Editor for Preconception: Trying To Conceive since December of 1999 and has written over 75 articles.

Lori brings her personal knowledge and a wealth of information into one course that any couple that is getting ready to attempt pregnancy, or has already begun trying, should take to help make their journey an easier one. Lori explains, in easy to understand terms, the different hormones produced, how to correctly chart your fertility signs, what the different signs means, and how to identify and correct minor fertility problems. By arming yourself with information, you can increase your chances of conceiving quickly or be able to identify a possible fertility problem without the need to wait for a year or longer. Getting pregnant is not always easy, but with this course, it can be easier for you, your partner, and your relationship.

Maybe you have been trying to conceive for a while, or have been recently diagnosed with a fertility problem. Introduction to Infertility is the course for you. Developed and instructed by myself, Debbi Craig, it is a comprehensive introduction to the world of infertility. This course will take the student from the doorstep of suspecting and diagnosing infertility through the initial testing that is needed, your options and what treatments and therapies that are available. This is a “low-tech” focused course, which will be followed later by an advanced course as well as a coping with infertility course. This course really is for everyone, whether you suspect infertility, have been diagnosed, or just want to protect your future fertility.

So far we have looked at two great courses, both dealing with getting pregnant. But what if you already are pregnant and are expecting a bundle of joy? This next course is one that each and every expecting parent should take – Born Too Soon: Your Preemie and You.

It may shock you to find out that about 1 out of every 8 births in the US are premature. How can parents prepare for something that no one wants to think about, let alone expect? As the course developer and instructor, Elizabeth Batt, told me, “I always say that knowledge is power and in this case this is very apt. It's what you don't know that's the scary part and not knowing what to expect makes things hit home a whole lot harder. To be forewarned is to be forearmed when you find yourself watching your baby fight for life.” Beth is no stranger to what to expect and deal with if your baby is premature, she has had two premature births. Her 8-lesson course will take you through the facts of premature births, the NICU (neonatal intensive care unit), conditions that arise from pre-term birth, how your baby develops, dealing with your emotions and health, getting ready to and bringing your baby home, and she finishes up with the current research and development being done for pre-term births and babies.

I don’t think I can emphasize how important these, and other courses like them, are to your health. I urge you to check out these courses, and all the courses offered through Suite University.
